Transactional SMSs will typically be sent to the recipient within a matter of minutes. It may vary from 1 minute to up to 30 minutes.
Promotional SMSs on the other hand will take up to 3 hours to be sent.
In your dashboard, you can check your SMS delivery status by checking the outbox section: my.exotel.com/smses/outbox
If you have sent your SMS using the SMS API, you can check for the status of your message.

A quicker way to vet the status of your SMS would be to search for it in the Outbox itself, using the phone number to which the SMS was sent, or the SMS SID.
An invalid phone number/ SID would result in the displayed message: Invalid SMS SID or phone number provided in search
An phone number/ SID with no records would result in the displayed message: No SMS found
