Exotel<>MoEngage Whatsapp Configuration


Pre-requisites

Exotel

  1. The Whatsapp onboarding for the  phone number is complete.

  2. You have the WhatsApp connector enabled on your MoEngage account.


You can activate a new phone number with Whatsapp business API via our Messaging console


In case, you cannot see "Exotel" on MoEngage please reach out to  [email protected] or MoEngage support.


MoEngage has native integration for WhatsApp with Exotel. This integration allows businesses to send templated WhatsApp messages using Senders (WhatsApp enabled phone numbers)  powered by Exotel. MoEngage can send messages and show Delivery and Read Analytics.


Sender Configuration

To configure a Sender from Exotel on the MoEngage Dashboard, do the following:

  1. Go to Settings->WhatsApp->Sender Configuration->Add Connector.

  2. Choose Exotel from the drop-down and click on Done

  1. Add the following details:

Field Name

Description

Sender name

This field denotes the name you want to provide to the Sender profile. This would be available in the Sender so that you can recognize this easily while using it to create a campaign inside MoEngage. The Sender Name should be between 5-50 characters. This is a mandatory field.

WhatsApp business number

This field denotes the phone number registered with WhatsApp (via Exotel) using which you want to send out WhatsApp Messages to your users. On Exotel, you can find Number Details on Whatsapp -> Number Management -> Phone Number. This is a mandatory field and is also referred to as the WABA number.

API URL

Format of the API URL is -

https://<your_api_key>:<your_api_token><subdomain>/v2/accounts/<your_sid>/messages/moengage/whatsapp


Follow below steps to get <your_api_key>, <your_api_token>, <subdomain> and <your_sid>

  1. Login to your Exotel account and go to API Settings page

  2. In this page, you will find your <your_sid>, <subdomain>, <your_api_key> and <your_api_token> for the respective account 



Delivery Tracking

To track the delivery of your WhatsApp Messages inside MoEngage, you need to copy the MoEngage Delivery Tracking URL and share it with the Exotel support team for configuration. You should be able to see the URL as shown below:



Information
The URL is a sample URL. Copy the exact URL from your MoEngage Dashboard before you configure it on the Exotel dashboard as shown below!


Note: To enable the MoEngage on a number, a request should be raised to [email protected] with the following details 

  • Exotel Account SID
  • WA Sender configured with MoEngage
