Message your customers by sending a single SMS or starting an SMS broadcast using Exotel's native plugin on WebEngage. To complete the integration and enjoy seamless communication, follow the steps below.
Step 1 - Keep the information from Exotel Dashboard handy
Find your Account sid, API KEY, and API TOKEN on Dashboard > SETTINGS: API
Step 2 - Login to your WebEngage account and enter configuration details
On the WebEngage dashboard navigate to Data and Insights from the left side.
Go to Data platform > Integrations > Channel Integration Status > SMS setup > Configure.
Click on Available SMS Service Providers (SSP) and select Exo
Fill in the requested details
SSP - Exotel will be selected here by default.
NAME YOUR CONFIGURATION - Select a nickname for the configuration to uniquely identify it.
ACCOUNT ID - Account SID created on Exotel's platform, please refer to Step 1 to get this value.
TOKEN - The API TOKEN to use the SMS Configuration, Please refer to Step 1 to get this value.
API Key - The API Key to use the SMS Configuration, Please refer to Step 1 to get this value.
SMS TYPE - Choose from the below SMS Types as per your requirement -
transactional (DLT type - Transactional or service implicit )
transactional_opt_in (DLT type - service explicit )
promotional (DLT type - promotional)
Please note that if you have multiple SMS Types, you will need to have separate configurations for each of them.
PRINCIPAL ENTITY ID - The DLT Entity ID registered for your business.
Finally, Click on Add SSP to finish the configuration.
Step 3 - Test plugin and Start using it!
Create a campaign by referring to Creating SMS Campaigns and choose the Exotel Configuration created in step 3 as the SMS Service Provider.
Fill in the requested details
SSP - Choose the configuration created in step 2.
SENDER - The Sender ID will be used to send the SMSes.
MESSAGE - Choose the message to be used in the campaign.
CLICK TRACKING - Check this if you want click tracking to be enabled and receive reports.
DLT TEMPLATE ID - The DLT Template ID of the SMS Template used for the campaign.
To ensure that the integration is working as expected, you can send a test SMS by clicking on TEST CAMPAIGN. In the dialogue box presented, enter these details, then hit SEND TEST.
VARIATION TO TEST - Select the variation from the dropdown. Please refer to https://knowledgebase.webengage.com/docs/campaign-variations-testing for more details.
SEND TEST MESSAGE TO - Choose a number from your selected users to send a test message i.e. Select Test Segment. Please refer to Step-by-step Guide on Creating Test Segment for more details.
Now that your SMS Configuration is configured and tested, you can use it to send SMS to your customers.
