If you are one of Exotel's early adopters it is likely that you are on a Postpaid plan. That is, you pay your bills after the service is rendered.

Every postpaid account has a set a 'Credit Limit'. If your outstanding payment amount crosses this limit, your phone system will automatically stop to work.

What does it mean to me?

Your Exotel account will remain active until your outstanding bills reach this limit. Once you hit the credit limit you will not be able to make or receive and inbound/outbound calls or smses. To activate your account, you will need to make a payment.

How is my credit limit calculated?

We have set your credit limit to 1.5 times your previous bill. If your latest bill happens to be less than the month before, we will not reduce your credit limit. For Eg: If your last 3 months bills were 6500, 9000 and 7000, your credit limit will be set to 9000  * 1.5 = Rs. 13500. Your credit limit is automatically re-calculated every month.

I want to be safe. How do I know if i'm nearing my credit limit?

Normally if you make your bill payments within a week of receiving the bill (by email), you should not face problems. But if you are nearing your credit limit, we will intimate you by email that you are nearing your credit limit. You can set the duration for which you want to be alerted using the notification settings.

Darn! I have reached my credit limit. How do I pay?
